Ready or Not!

We play a lot of Hide and Seek at our house. Hallie is getting really good.

Boo!

Hal and I whipped up some Halloween-flavored sugar cookies. They were kind of yucky and pretty thick. Not our best work.

And they have yet to be iced.

Maybe if you're lucky, YOU will get some un-iced, thick, yucky sugar cookies.

ps - I need a rolling pin for Christmas. The glass jar of salsa just isn't cutting it.

Tea for Three.

(I was invited too - just stopped to take pictures)

Milestone.

Learning to spit your toothpaste out.

Easier said than done. But Hallie has now upgraded to Stage 2 toothpaste. She spits it out, rinses and spits that out too. It's really quite an accomplishment if you think about it.

I'm pretty darn proud.

Testing, Testing.

1, 2, 3...

Interesting. I updated to the new Editor in blogger. Just to see how different it is from the old.

So far, I like it. Except, wait, how do I upload pictures?

Perfection.

My grandmother-in-law recently gifted me a million and one jars. And not just any jars. They are Perfect Mason jars. Of course.

And they are so pretty. Hallie likes them too.

Early Bird Gets A Spanking.

Just kidding.

So this morning I am taking Hallie for her flu mist (NOT the shot). The appointment is at 9:20, so I asked my boss if I could just come in after. Permission was granted.

I was pretty excited to sleep in this morning. I am such a fool.

I heard a thump and a scream at 5:30am. She fell from her bed. It's actually a pretty cute story, but since I didn't take a picture I won't tell it. She came to bed with me for a bit, but she basically pulled, I mean played, with my hair for an hour before I turned cartoons on for her in the living room.

So much for sleeping in!

Pictures from five minutes ago. She found a little sword thingie and is poking it in my kitchen appliances.

Nevermind. Blogger won't upload. Too bad so sad!

Life of Pie.

So I made a pie last night. I had a 1/2 peck of organic fujis begging to be peeled and put into pie form.

My darling husband peeled each apple with an apple core-er/peeler (thanks, barb!) and I made the syrup and crust. I assembled it, popped it in the oven and then...I said a bad word.

I forgot to add the 3 TBSP of flour to the mixture. Crap. Crap. Crap.

The pie was gorgeous. See? .

But inside, apple pie soup.

Still delicious, but nothing I could bring to work. I plan to try it again soon, because it was the best crust and the best flavor EVAH.

My Husband.

He is a good dad.

A hard worker.

Smart.

Funny.

And he is H-O-T.

Maybe that's why I love Harvest time so much. There is nothing hotter than watching Dave operate heavy machinery. I love it.

Please don't think I'm too weird.

Weekend Tradition.

Every year, my mom visits over her birthday weekend. We had fun, picking out pumpkins and apples at the local Farmer's Market. We carved pumpkins, made homemade applesauce and celebrated a birthday. It was a wonderful weekend and another addition to a wonderful tradition.

I love you, mom!

Harvest.

I took a million and one pictures yesterday. It's harvest, my favorite time of the year. I mean that. I really do. I love harvest. There's something so old-fashioned and exciting about riding in the tractor with my husband and daughter. I even like to ditch the little one so I can ride alone with my farmer.

I love the impromptu meals at Lucille's house, talking about the moistness (is that a word?) of the corn and what field they will open up next. I love it.

I love how the kiddos get to experience this life every year and that they LOVE IT.

I went back into my photo archives for this picture comparison from last year. I sense a tradition in the making.

Upstairs.

At our house, much fun is had upstairs. Not the main level upstairs, but UPstairs to our finished guestroom/office over the garage. It has: a bed, a desk and a rocking chair.

And apparently is the place to be.

Enjoyment is had jumping on the trampoline (aka bed) and falling backwards from the hope chest (at the foot of the bed) back on to the trampoline.

That's it. That's IT. Hours of fun. Seriously, hours.
